Meta Launches Sporty Oakley Smart Glasses with 3K Video and Double Battery Life

Designed for Athletes: Meta’s new Oakley smart glasses combine rugged, water-resistant design with smart features ideal for running, biking, and sports filming.

3K Video & 8-Hour Battery: With upgraded 3K video recording and double the battery life of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, the Oakley HSTN model offers major improvements in daily performance.

Built-In AI & Global Rollout: Meta AI integration, voice control, and a global launch in July position these glasses as a top pick in the wearable tech and business space.

Meta is expanding its presence in the wearable tech market with a new sport-focused version of its smart glasses, this time in collaboration with Oakley. The Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses unveiled on Friday, aim to appeal to athletes and outdoor enthusiasts with features designed for speed, durability, and performance.

The new glasses build on Meta’s earlier success with its Ray-Ban line, which has already sold over two million pairs. But this time, Meta is dialing up functionality with business-minded improvements: 3K video capture, IPX4 water resistance, and a significantly extended battery life of up to eight hours, double what the Ray-Bans offered.
As with the previous models, the Oakley Meta glasses let users film video, listen to music, receive notifications, and access the built-in Meta AI assistant, all completely hands-free. These features make the glasses especially useful for athletes or commuters who want practical tech without pulling out a phone.

Retailing initially at $499, the glasses will also be available in more styles later this summer starting at $399, putting them in direct competition with other players in the smart glasses space. Prescription lenses are supported, and the frames come in five different Oakley combinations.

Meta and eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, which also owns Ray-Ban, have signaled this launch is just the start. With a third generation of Meta’s smart glasses reportedly in development and rumored to feature an embedded display, this release keeps Meta at the forefront of AI-powered wearable tech.

Preorders begin July 11 in markets including the U.S., UK, Canada, and much of Europe. As competitors like Apple and Google work on their own smart eyewear, Meta’s latest offering makes clear its plans to stay a dominant force in this fast-evolving sector of consumer tech news.
